CLINICAL PILATES AT MTM PHYSIOTHERAPY WARWICK

Mat Pilates

Our Mat Pilates classes are run by our physiotherapist in a structured group setting and incorporate the use of equipment such as light weights, resistance bands and fitballs. Our classes are suitable for a range of levels from the beginner to the more advanced and are aimed at improving core control, flexibility, balance and overall strength. Our physio taking this general matwork class can modify exercises as required to suit any minor injuries or issues you may have. However, if you have a significant injury or multiple problems our Clinical Reformer Pilates sessions may be more suitable.

Reformer Pilate

Our Clinical Reformer Pilates sessions provide you with own personalised program that you perform under the guidance of our physiotherapist. The exercises are performed on a piece of specialised Pilates equipment called the Reformer, which is a bed-like frame with a sliding carriage, springs, ropes and pulleys. The springs provide various levels of resistance and difficulty as the carriage is moved along the frame allowing for a versatile workout.

Our Reformer Pilates sessions run as either a private session or as a semi-private/small group class with a maximum of three people, allowing close supervision of your individualised program by our physiotherapist.

Clinical Reformer Pilates at MTM Physiotherapy Warwick is suitable for people of all ages with a range of injuries. It can be effectively used as exercise rehabilitation for chronic or recurrent neck or back pain, following surgery (e.g. ACL reconstruction, Total Knee Replacements), after a motor vehicle accident or if you are under workers compensation for a work-related injury. It can also be of great benefit to the athletic population as a method to recover from injury, prevent further injury and even enhance sports performance.

HOW TO GET STARTED

Initial Pilates Assessment

An initial assessment is required by all patients prior to commencing either the Mat or Reformer Pilates sessions. An initial consultation will include a review of your past injury history and current fitness level, a comprehensive musculoskeletal/postural assessment and a discussion regarding your goals. This initial assessment gives us a good understanding of your injury/pain and an overall picture of your function, strengths and weaknesses. Based on this assessment you will be guided as to what type of Pilates session would best suit your needs. During your initial consult you will also be taught the principles of Pilates and taken through some basic Pilates exercises.

PILATES SESSION OPTIONS AND PRICING:

Session Style (Physio:Client) Session Length Fee (before Health Fund Rebate)
Initial Pilates Assessment 1:1 30 minutes $75
Private Reformer Pilates 1:1 30 minutes $75
Semi-private Reformer Pilates 1:3 45 minutes $60
Mat Pilates Class 1:14 60 minutes $22

Private Pilates Session

We recommended private Pilates sessions when you require more attention and instruction to start with or just simply prefer a more personal setting for your Pilates practice. Following your initial consultation, it is recommended that you perform one to three 1:1 sessions with our physiotherapist prior to moving to the semi-private sessions. This allows you to become more familiar with your individual program and boosts your confidence and ability in using the equipment.

Semi-Private Reformer Pilates Session

Semi-private Pilates sessions involve one physiotherapist working closely with three clients simultaneously. You will be supervised and guided through your own individualised Pilates program with continual reassessment and progression. This option is good for those who prefer guidance with their Pilates exercises but do not necessarily require a one-on-one session.
